On the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of independence, the MLB All-Stars were revealed for the 2026 All-Star Game in Philadelphia, Pa. One of the players who made the cut on the starters’ ballot was none other than Michael Nelson Trout, who was selected to his 12th ever All-Star game and hopes to play in his first Midsummer Classic since 2019. Currently on the injured list, Trout is seeking to return from a hamstring injury that has sidelined him since Jun 18. Trout has hit 17 home runs so far this season and also leads his Los Angeles Angels squad with an .866 OPS mark. Trout had his top moments in the All-Star Game in 2014 and 2015, when he won back-to-back MVPs in the contests held in Minneapolis and Cincinnati respectively. Trout is also the only Angels representative at the All-Star Game this year as of now, with him being voted in as an American League outfielder with Aaron Judge(who is unlikely to play in the game this year due to injury) and Byron Buxton. Other AL starters in the 2026 All-Star Game include Junior Caminero, Bobby Witt Jr, Ernie Clement and Yordan Alvarez.
With the game set to occur on Tue, Jul 14 at Citizen’s Bank Park in Philadelphia, Trout will be having a homecoming as he grew up not too far from Philly as a native of Millville, New Jersey, which is located roughly 50 miles south of the City of Brotherly Love. Trout’s family, including his parents Debbie and Jeff, wife Jessica and sons Beckham and Jordan, will certainly be happy to see him compete in an All-Star Game as an outfielder once again. As long as no other injuries happen in the week leading up to the All-Star Game, Trout will be in the lineup for the American League, which is looking to restart their All-Star winning streak after a loss in a swingoff last year in Atlanta.
Trout has had injuries prevent him from appearing in the All-Star Games in 2021, 2022 and 2023, and he was snubbed from the All-Star Game last season after missing out on the starter’s ballot and not being selected as a reserve. But now, the arguably greatest player of his generation is back in the All-Star fold and hopefully will participate in his eighth-ever All-Star Game(2017 was also another Midsummer Classic that he was voted into that he missed due to an injury). Potentially facing top-tier National League pitchers such as Jacob Misiorowski, Paul Skenes or Cristopher Sánchez, Mike Trout is definitely going to face the best of the best in the biggest staged baseball game in the middle of the regular season once again.
