Minnesota Vikings Hire Former Seahawks Assistant GM Nolan Teasley As New General Manager Four Months After Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s Firing

On Sat, May 30, the Minnesota Vikings announced the hiring of their new general manager. Instead of promoting Rob Brzezinski to be the GM, the front office made an external hiring choice in picking Seattle Seahawks assistant GM Nolan Teasley to be the new general manager in Minnesota. After working for 13 seasons in the Seattle front office and overseeing two different championship teams under general manager John Schneider, Teasley now gets his chance to be a real general manager with the Vikings, who are seeking Super Bowl glory just like the Seahawks were in 2013.

Teasley was chosen over a pool of candidates that included Buffalo Bills assistant GM Terrence Gray, Denver Broncos assistant GM Reed Burckhardt and Los Angeles Rams assistant GM John McKay. Teasley will inherit a team that got its roster under the payroll cap and added key pieces in the offseason such as Kyler Murray, Jauan Jennings and Ryan Van Demark. The 2026 draft class was molded by Brzezinski and includes potential stars on defense such as Caleb Banks, Domonique Orange, Jake Golday and Ja’Kobe Thomas. Teasley will get to work with Kevin O’Connell and the coaching staff with overseeing important decisions, most notably which quarterback will be the starter on opening day between Murray and J.J McCarthy, who was drafted by previous GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah with the 10th overall pick in the 2024 draft.

With a four-month period between firing Adofo-Mensah and hiring Teasley, the Vikings front office did the best with cutting bloated veteran contracts from signings made in the 2025 offseason such as Ryan Kelly, Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave. As the interim GM, Brzezinski also made a huge draft day trade in shipping off Jonathan Greenard to Philadelphia. Teasley will definitely be working with Brzezinski and other key members of the front office in Minnesota to oversee a team that can potentially make it into the playoffs and go on a deep run. Making it out of the tight and tough NFC North will be a key priority. Also, making any necessary moves to improve the roster at the trade deadline if necessary should be a top priority for the front office under Teasley, who is 42 years old. Being a bit younger than Brzezinski, who has been employed in the Minnesota front office since 1999, Teasley looks to continue the success started under his predecessor in Adofo-Mensah while making better decisions in the draft and free agency.

With two months until training camp begins and with offseason OTAs recently concluded, the Minnesota Vikings now have their new general manager in tow. The first big task ahead for Teasley is reducing the roster to 53 players and organizing the practice squad as well. Hopefully Teasley won’t be a tease in a negative sense and can provide good leadership for a team and franchise looking to break so many droughts in the 2026 season.
