So; the Democratic Party isn’t having a good summer. In fact, it can be described as a cruel summer for them. From fiery riots protesting ICE raids on illegal immigrant residents(many of whom are criminals) and the subsequent deportation efforts in building strong detention facilities such as Alligator Alcatraz in Florida, there’s already enough chaos as is in big cities governed by liberal mayors and city councils. But it only seems to get worse and the responses to it by those in charge continues to be weak and feckless. The citizens who voted those leaders in shoulder some of the blame, because they keep making the same choices due to poorly educated views and beliefs based on who they are and the Democrats seem to align the most with those beliefs, no matter how far-fetched they might be to the average, common-minded person. But the Democrats themselves are a dumpster fire right now and they have been that way for a while. Their party is losing popularity, with the lowest approval numbers in specific polls since 1990. They need a split electorate, a third party that will take away some votes from the GOP and a modern-day Bill Clinton to save their party, but it seems that none of those things are going to happen. More people seem to be registering as independent or Republican voters and the Democrats are losing a voting base that they themselves created with open border and sanctuary city policies who are illegal immigrants that are getting busted and deported by ICE and DHS.
It seems like desperate times for the Dems and that is only highlighted by their most recent attempt to subvert the will of the people by claiming that they are “Trump-proofing” the states that they have legislative majorities in. But their attempts are mostly failing in spite of their efforts to prevent local law enforcement from working with federal authorities in detaining illegal immigrants with final deportation orders. The Democratic Party is in a rut right now and they have no clear leader at the moment. Even registered Democrats see their party as a joke, but they will still be willing to turn out in elections and vote for them if given an incentive to get behind someone with energy to resist Trump and the Republican Party’s attempt to gain electoral supremacy for many years to come. But there’s a couple of politicians on the left who are driving energy for their voters in the biggest city population-wise in the nation with promises of affordable housing, government-run grocery stores(for more equitable access to food products that the lower class can’t buy enough of) and resisting the “evil Orange man” at any cost in terms of defying immigration enforcement and securing transgender “rights”. That candidate could set a dangerous precedent and put one of the two dominant political parties in the United States on a dark path towards a governmental ideology forged in the modern age(mid-19th century) that has done nothing but fail to deliver on its promises and left millions dead in its wake. However, the young Democrat-registered voters living in that city have not been taught or educated about the harmful effects of that ideology and if they choose to vote this guy in as the leading Democratic candidate for the mayoral election, they will be floored and left even poorer economically and spiritually than they already are. The liberals in America are facing a dangerous crossroads of either staying in the status quo in backing whichever candidate appears to be most centrist(something that wasn’t done in the last general election for them) or going even further to the left on the political spectrum and embracing full-blown socialism/communism as its future. This is a final reckoning for the Democrats, who could be at a point of no return when it comes to governing responsibly and in the best interest of American citizens, who should be the only ones able to vote in American elections but the areas referred to as “Blue States” have allowed illegal immigrant residents to vote due to them not having strict-enough Voter ID laws.
But first, there is an even worse matter afoot for the Democrats due to something that has come back to haunt them in the present age after having it help them politically for some election cycles. The Democratic Party has gone down in reasonable psychological functioning ever since the first successful political campaign of New York-born businessman and TV personality Donald J. Trump, who used a coalition of blue-collared workers and suburban residents to win the 2016 presidential election over Hillary Rodman Clinton. The Dems thought that Hillary was destined to be the first woman ever elected to the Oval Office, but they were proven wrong as Trump got more electoral college votes than she did. Even though she won the popular vote(a number that can be rigged towards the Democrats in plenty of elections), Trump won where it mattered in rural areas and Rust Belt/Blue Wall states. The Democratic Party could not accept defeat to a Republican Party that was politically dead in the water since the election of Barack Hussein Obama in 2008 and a strong eight-year run by Obama, who made some dire mistakes along the way when it came to the continuing War on Terror(other than the assassination of one of the most wretched terrorist leaders) and healthcare. So, they ended up supposedly digging up dirt on a strategy that Trump allegedly used to swing the election in his favor. That scheme was a collusion effort with the government of Russia, led by the brutal former KGB agent Vladimir Putin. A Russian code-named operation was assumably found by FBI and CIA agents to peddle misinformation online and to prevent the will of the people from being properly executed. The Democrats started shouting out on the mainstream media networks that this was “Russian collusion” and that Trump was a threat to democracy by “stealing the election”. Donald Trump had to deal with many problems from the Democrats in Congress, who looked to impeach him on these claims of election interference. The media was vehemently against him and his policies towards illegal immigration(building a border wall on the southern border that the Mexican government would pay for), transgender people(none of them were permitted to be in the military, echoing back to an era when being openly gay was seen as more negative in our society), and a lack of gun control laws(there were a lot of mass school shootings during Trump’s first term, continuing a trend that has plagued American schools since the Columbine High School massacre in 1999). But they sought to use the “RussiaGate” scandal and federal investigation into whether the 2016 election was authentic or not to their political benefit and Trump’s political ruin.
Another problem that the Dems had with Trump was that he continued giving his extravagant rallies to his Make America Great Again supporters. Trump wouldn’t have had to do that if he wasn’t facing a political scandal that threatened to destroy his presidency and reputation, so he had to stand up for himself. The Democrats and media continued pushing these claims of Russian collusion, while a years long investigation by former FBI Director Robert Mueller found no claims of such a conspiracy in the 2016 election by Trump. Even with this referendum, the Democrats in Congress still wanted to impeach Trump and they could do that more easily due to them having a congressional majority in the House of Representatives after winning enough seats to gain that majority in the 2018 midterms. And thus, this was done to paint a negative picture of Trump, who was seeking a second term in a re-election campaign against whoever the Democrats would nominate to be their candidate in the 2020 presidential election. Trump was impeached by a majority of Democrats who were against him and all his policies, but he wasn’t voted out of office. The impeachment attempt failed and he avoided the fate that only one President prior has faced in being voted out of office after being impeached.
As we would see, Trump ended up leading the country through the COVID-19 pandemic’s early days and had to juggle a lot of different tasks when it came to keeping the country safe from a dangerous virus along with considering the damage done to the economy due to the shutdowns wrought on by Covid. Trump became more lax with COVID policies, preferring each state to enforce any restrictions to their own liking. This led to Republican governors taking risks of partially opening their states’ economies back up a little bit. Meanwhile, governors in Blue states enforced strict restrictions on their citizens such as coercing them to “shelter in place” and not even allowing people to be around loved ones who were dying alone in hospitals for fear of the virus spreading, even when the virus wasn’t the cause of death of the deceased. Unfortunately, Trump’s handling of the coronavirus along with all the mainstream media outlets being against him on a lot of topics topped off with a “racial reckoning” in the summer of 2020 created the perfect recipe to unseat him from the presidency.
Joe Biden was able to defeat Donald Trump in the 2020 election and Trump didn’t do himself any favors by claiming that the election was stolen. There was a potential for some fraudulent mail-in ballots and those ballots went far more in Biden’s favor than they did in Trump’s. In a last ditch move, on the day of the election’s certification in Congress, Trump held an intense rally on the White House lawn and he told his supporters present in the nation’s capital to protest this decision “peacefully and patriotically”. Unfortunately, it seemed that the crowd took the patriotically part to heart by raiding the Capitol building in what has been described as an “insurrection” to prevent Mike Pence, the former vice president, from certifying the election as President of the Senate in Biden’s favor. This only created a further case for Trump’s political downfall, as he was impeached again just days before he was set to vacate the Oval Office, which he did peacefully and patriotically. But now that Trump is back in power(a political comeback unlike any other in world history), there has been a revelation that his public image was intentionally smeared by federal officials in the FBI and CIA under the command of his first predecessor, Barack Obama, who concocted a scheme to have the Russian collusion hoax hang over Trump’s head, even though there was no legitimate findings of the Russian government or agents from Russia looking to turn the 2016 election in Trump’s favor. In spite of these findings, Obama wanted this to be a distraction so that an investigation into Hillary Clinton and potential damaging emails into her business accounts wouldn’t be conducted. Hillary needed the distraction so she could avoid prosecution and Trump hasn’t gone after her. She would get all the help from the mainstream media outlets like CNN, MSNBC and the New York Times in reporting this story that went on for years without end and that some American citizens willingly accepted as sacrosanct truth. But in reality, it was all a hoax as conservatives had claimed that reporters and so-called “journalists” hadn’t done enough digging into the investigation, leaving it to Robert Mueller instead of taking the investigative process on themselves. The reporters listened to their editors and didn’t deviate away from the narrative that Trump colluded with the Russian government to win an election that he otherwise couldn’t have won if he had done so. Never mind that they didn’t want to talk to Trump voters and supporters to understand why they voted for the “evil Orange man” being compared to Adolf Hitler by the left-wing elitists and academia(which doesn’t respect history enough to know that you cannot compare anybody to be as bad or worse than Hitler in good faith).
The Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard(a former Democratic politician from Hawai’i) revealed that Obama, former FBI director James Comey, former CIA director John Brennan and former DNI James Clapper executed a plot to connect Trump with this hoax. It was termed the Steele Dossier, named after a counterintelligence agent that drafted the document that the media would point to and demand to see more of for the entirety of Trump’s first term. The American news viewing audience was deceived by this coverage as Trump tried to push back against this, claiming that Hillary Clinton, the entire Democratic Party and the Russians sought to frame him for a crime that he did not commit(sounds vaguely familiar). Those who saw through the lies turned out to be the right-wing media outlets spearheaded by Fox News Channel, which sought to dispel this narrative. But they didn’t have enough of a viewership base to outnumber and rival that of the more liberal-friendly networks. Even conservatives who were not hard-core MAGA Republicans believed that the Steele Dossier contained legitimate information. But in the end, it was all a fake frame-job of Donald Trump, who ended up making a strong comeback to the White House fueled by the failed policy positions of the Joe Biden administration. Now, the DNI Gabbard is going after Comey, Clapper and Brennan along with others involved for their role in lying while under oath in congressional committees regarding the Steele Dossier. There is a clip from June 2017 of John Brennan swearing under oath that the Steele Dossier was a legitimate document that the CIA and FBI was using to investigate a Russian code-named doc that appeared to have agents intentionally impact the 2016 presidential election. But that turned out to be a lie and Brennan was lying under oath. The current Republican congressional caucus, which seeks to defy midterm odds in 2026 and have an increased hold on seats for the latter half of Trump’s second term, must investigate these claims and bring these deceitful officials to justice. History will hopefully show an unbiased lens that this incident was one of the most crooked episodes of investigative malfeasance in American history and that Donald Trump was a victim of this scheme, but managed to power through and vindicate himself in the end. Millions of people will now see it that way and millions of people will still believe that Trump was not elected legitimately. The divide will continue to exist, but it seems that the pendulum is swinging towards the side of the truth, which always comes out, no matter how long it takes for better or worse.
When it comes to truth, that seems to be a subjective term these days. How a person views the world can determine their worldview on a whole lot of things. If you’re living in a big city with high rent prices and housing costs, then you are more concerned with having a job that can pay you with enough money to sustain yourself when it comes to buying groceries and accessing other amenities like electricity and running water. But if you’re poor and on the streets, you don’t care about advancing and improving your life in a long-term sense. Everything is day-to-day and just putting one foot in front of the other. If you’re a person who isn’t supposed to be in the country but is allowed to stay due to “sanctuary city” policies(or sanctuary state policies), then you will mooch off the system every chance you’ll get. Especially if you have no interest or intent in making a living while being an unauthorized resident and not going through the legal pipeline of migration into this country. When it comes to worldview, probably the most grim one comes from the massive amount of young people who waste their time and money(or their parents’ money) getting a college degree in a field that might not apply to the professional career path that those college grads decide to take. But they are the most financially-burdened population group in the nation, other than the lower middle class and impoverished people barely making it by in still trying to pay their fair share in taxes. They have to pay off their student loans while at the same time finding a career that will pay enough money towards them in the long run to make them afford to rent a place and maybe eventually buy a piece of land that they can call home for a long time, if they’re even lucky enough to have that much money after paying off loans, taxes and those goddamn bills, which only seem to increase in highly populated areas throughout the country. Being young, dumb and broke is more common now than it’s ever been, which is why a lot of people aged 18 through thirty-something decide to stay home with their parents or live with another relative who has space to either “rent” or basically accept for free. Not to mention that a lot of these kids have been radicalized to think(I thought defying academia politics was an age-old tradition in America, I guess that only applies to high-school dropouts and flunkers for the most part) that this nation is built on stolen land once inhabited by “benevolent” native Americans who were the victims of colonial genocide, that being white is a sin in America due to past racism onto generations of black, brown and other colored peoples(reverse-racism is the new racial trend I guess) and that any government with a majority-white population around the world must let in scores of migrants with different ethnic backgrounds to balance the scales of racial equality, no matter if it’s done legally or illegally. That is a troubling trend towards those with “high GPAs” who fall victim to this kind of thinking. They think they are so smart, but all their doing is listening to the political views of their biased professors and faculty members and not creating their own independent opinions that will make them think critically about history and why such stuff was done in the first place. All about placing yourself in the shoes of the colonizers and understanding the power of Manifest Destiny, something attempted a few times prior in ancient world history and successfully pulled off by empires such as the Roman Empire, the Mongols, Alexander the Great and other forces.
This precedent can also be applied to politics and who these young people decide to vote for. Sadly, gullibility is a natural trait of the uneducated modern voter and both sides hurl those insults at the other’s base. Democrats think that MAGA voters are gullible due to their lack of a college education, while Republicans think left-wing voters are gullible due to false narratives and outdated labels placed onto conservative politicians. These young adults who are college graduates are mostly left-wing voters and they are more prune to be living in a big city governed by Democrats in the city council and the mayoral office. In recent months, an inexperienced politician has risen up to become the most influential candidate in a race for the position of mayor in the biggest city of them all in the nation. He has dazzled with his looks, appearances and he checks a lot of boxes when it comes to the intangibles that a person has, something that far-left liberals adore and worship more than common sense itself. He has said extreme things on the internet in regards to political issues such as defunding the police forces due to racial bias against black and brown people, the need for a sanctuary for transgender people from “harmful policies” that don’t help them find peace and assurance and other stuff. He has laid out a plan to try and make living in the city’s apartments more affordable, but that plan could easily backfire and increase prices even more. This mayoral candidate is being criticized as a “socialist” politician and that label is something heavy in a country that has seen so many people immigrate to it because of the decline of the nations that decided to adopt that same political philosophy. Thus, history is being ignored by these young Democrat voters, who don’t realize that socialism is a far-left ideology. The name of the candidate is Zohran Kwame Mamdani, a young 33-year old Millennial gentleman who was born in Uganda to Indian parents and ended up taking on a career in rap music, which he did not quite succeed in. Mamdani became politically active as a college student, as his father is a professor at Columbia University, where he attended. Mamdani did not reveal his political leanings until 2020, when racial justice riots were occurring and calls for defunding police departments were being made by countless protestors and political organizations. Mamdani tweeted “Defund the NYPD” and “Abolish the police” as extreme statements that vibed with the large locked-down audience who didn’t realize that the cops help protect the streets from violent crime that plagues big cities run by Democrats.
Mamdani took his political leanings even further when he shot a video on social media in 2021 detailing how the local city government could take control of grocery stores in New York City to make goods more affordable to lower-class citizens. He also stated that the local government should institute a rent freeze(something done during Covid for rent payments) for those looking to pay the monthly rent, which only continues to increase for new members in the renters market. The term “affordable housing” is used as well by Mamdani, who also has taken extreme policy positions as a New York state representative in a district centered around the borough of Queens. Mamdani has protested the arrest of illegal immigrant residents by I.C.E and he has said that he would stand up to Donald Trump’s effort to detain and deport illegal aliens. The city’s immigration problem worsened under the previous administration and when Trump got back into office, he made a deal with current mayor Eric Adams to give immigration enforcement officers free reign to capture any illegal immigrant criminals who have taken refuge in NYC. Because of this move, Adams has fallen out of favor with the young Democratic voters who were the same ones protesting the “genocide” in Gaza by the Israeli Defense Forces and their universities funding corporations that provide weapons to Israel in its war against the terrorist group Hamas. Along with allegations of corruption, it is very unlikely that Adams will be able to win re-election and he even changed his political affiliation to be marked as an independent candidate. This made the Democratic primary ticket for the 2025 mayoral race in New York, New York open and Zohran Mamdani put his hat in the ring for that primary race.
Mamdani ended up facing former governor of New York state Andrew Cuomo, who is trying to make a political comeback of his own after his downfall as governor due to a domestic violence case that forced him to resign. Mamdani defeated Cuomo in the Democratic primary for the NYC mayoral race in late June and is now the Democratic candidate for mayor in a city that has only elected one Republican to office in the last half-century. That’s more than a lot of other big cities can say as Democratic voters dominate big cities in droves in outnumbering any other voter base. So, Mamdani won the primary due to those “educated” college elites with bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He won that group over along with most white people ironically. The group that he didn’t win with are African-Americans and Hispanics, which overwhelmingly voted in favor of Cuomo. Zohran won the majority vote in a primary that only about a million people participated in(voters don’t feel the need to participate in primary races than they do actual elections), but he still won the most primary votes ever by a New York City mayoral candidate. And he has his base of young adult voters to thank for that. These people who voted for Mamdani are as far-left on the political spectrum as you can go, with them being mass protestors for the causes of Black Lives Matter(who care more about raising money rather than addressing real societal issues in regards to crime committed by African-Americans, thus leading to brutal police encounters), Free Palestine(a phrase that unfortunately invokes the genocide of all Jews living in the Middle East), and other whacko left-wing organizations such as Antifa. These people don’t know what they’re voting for and it could very well be the downfall of the greatest city in our nation’s history. They don’t realize the harm that Mamdani’s policies could do because they have never lived through those types of policies or have family members who fled from countries that have become shadows of their former selves and are destructive economic wormholes to the people unable to escape/defect. They don’t know what it’s like to live in Cuba, North Korea, Venezuela or any other country that has an active socialist/communist government or have elected leaders who have espoused those ideals in the past. If they actually took history classes seriously and not just as another general education class(considered by many of them to be the most boring and pointless type), then they would know that the USSR was destroyed by its own policy failures such as government-run grocery stores and more brutal doctrines such as Gulag punishment for those who dared to speak up against the government and its core beliefs of how people should live their lives. But these young citizens with barely any brain development believe that Mamdani is going to make their rent cheaper by having the city take over apartment complexes that are worth a few thousand dollars minimum in monthly rent. He would freeze the rent, which would only increase to higher levels once it is unfrozen. You can’t freeze the rent prices for long or the landlords running them will simply pack up and go to another big city that isn’t engaging in this economic nonsense. If Mamdani’s intent is to drive out the landlords and real estate groups that oversee the apartment complexes, then his idea to freeze rent is a good starting point for that part of his political Ponzi scheme.
Mamdani also wants to tax white neighborhoods, another perfect example of justifying punishment by pointing out the privileges that a certain group of people have enjoyed, while ignoring the fact that there are plenty of poor and middle-class white folks who are already being overtaxed as is. Zohran has said that the rich neighborhoods should be taxed more in spite of the high incomes that they earn, which leads to higher taxes paid by those rich people. Politically, he is backed by two of the most far-left politicians that our country has seen in a local congresswoman representing the Bronx and an old-aged senator who is so far down on the political scale that he doesn’t even identify as a classical Democrat. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders are major supporters of Mamdani, who they see as a beacon to spread their vision of “democracy” and how the country should be run in a modern age where fears of climate destruction and other horrific nightmare possibilities linger in the minds of a generation brainwashed into thinking the world is going to end in their lifetime or their kids’ lifetimes due to human-induced errors. The rest of the Democratic Party is unsure of what to do as there is no clear party head to discern whether Mamdani’s potential rise to an office of greater power is a good thing or a bad thing for them politically. The House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries comes from New York City as well and he’s stuck in between fighting against the new changes that the Trump administration is implementing and trying to deal with the far-left members of the House who want more action and resistance than they have already done in the first several months of the second term of Trump’s separated presidency. The same can be said with the Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer, who is facing a potential primary threat due to his age and lack of resistance to keeping a government shutdown in effect.
Mamdani is part of a generation that has barely touched the political scales of power and will look to be part of a new coalition of leadership in the future. But if he fails to win the election in NYC or if he does win and implements all of his lunatic policies in resisting Donald Trump’s political will as president, this could be the end of the Democratic Party as millions of people have known it. Far-left liberals have used the term “democracy” in describing the political system in the United States, but really we are a constitutional republic. Without the Constitution and its amendments, this country would spiral into chaos and the term democracy depends on whether it is direct or indirect. In the case of a constitutional republic, democracy is indirect- the people have the power to vote for political candidates who will govern as representatives of them in the higher offices of power and make policy decisions that only a handful or half of the voters would be able to fully understand. The United States of America has existed as an indirect democracy for its entire lifetime due to the amounts of people who have immigrated into this country and populated the expanse of it from sea to shining sea. Anybody can run for office if they only have the courage and understanding of policy implementation. Or in some cases if they are popular enough as a celebrity figure(like Donald Trump and a handful of other famous people).
What the voters in New York City must decide is whether they want Zohran Mamdani to represent them on the world stage or not. Is it worth having somebody stand up to the policy positions of a sitting president in the short-term(a few years at least) only to see the city you live in crumble and fall? With a recovery timeline that could be eternal if you continue voting this way. Every big city has to learn the hard way when voting for an extremist candidate that does things that eventually make you sick of living in that city and wanting to potentially move away from it(an option that thousands of people have taken in fleeing big blue cities and states). New Yorkers once learned that lesson and were willing to vote twice for a Republican mayor who implemented a “broken windows” policy that pretty much dissuaded any criminal activity in the city going unpunished. San Fransisco recently learned that lesson with London Breed, instead opting for a more moderate mayor who cares about addressing issues of crime and homelessness in that city. Unfortunately, other voters in big blue cities have to learn that hard lesson of the consequences to their actions of voting in a person who has complex policy positions and the impact of it isn’t felt until you’ve gone through years of hell with that “crazy” mayor in charge. So, will New Yorkers have to go through the same cycle again(only this time making the city way worse than it ever was previously)? I pray that does not come to pass, but if it does it will embolden Democrats throughout the country to adopt more far-left policy positions in catering towards their base and not the majority of people. There’s already a Mamdani clone running for mayor in Minneapolis, Minn. for crying out loud, so Zohran is by no means the only one adopting socialist policy positions in this crossroads year of 2025 in the United States. The rise of socialist-run cities could benefit conservatives nationwide, but there is another strategy that the Democrats have used to keep their power in spite of losing general elections. That strategy is something as old as our nation itself and it is the perfect version of political malfeasance and subverting the complete will of the people in an indirect democracy/constitutional republic.
Very recently, there’s been a conflict where a group of Democratic lawmakers based in one of the nation’s biggest and most well-known states decided to leave their state in order to prevent a vote from occurring on an important piece of legislation to redraw some congressional districts within that state’s boundaries. Instead of allowing a few of their members to satisfy a minimum amount of lawmakers present at the State House on Mon. Aug 3, the Democratic state representatives and senators fled to prevent a vote from occurring on the redrawn Texas congressional district lines for the 2026 midterm elections that could allow for five additional seats to be picked up in the federal House of Representatives by Republican candidates. The Lone Star Democrats fled to states such as Illinois, California and New York to protest this move that Donald Trump wanted so that the House majority that Republicans currently hold can be potentially increased. Ironically, the states that they fled to have been more gerrymandered and harder for Republican candidates to win in and effectively represent their constituents. It’s all a majority rule race after all, if a candidate gets 50% or more of the overall vote or barely gets enough votes to beat out other candidates, then that candidate wins the race and secures the seat up for competition. The Democratic Party has had a long history of deploying gerrymandering strategies to shape congressional districts to their advantage in elections and have more potential liberal voters come out to support them on Election Day. They call it the “will of the people”, but is it truly being executed to the best degree? Critics would refuse to acknowledge that as this dying party tries to keep ahold of power for as long as they can to influence the communities that they represent to their visions and beliefs, only to be rejected by the voters if a majority of them see that their policy positions are causing more problems than intended. Gerrymandering is a term that comes from a politician who can be considered one of our Founding Fathers and he used a strategy to reshape districts around the biggest city in his state(Massachusetts) to make it look like a salamander-shape on the map in order to favor the political party he was in.
Elbridge Gerry is the name of the man who invented this horrific practice that political factions have used to increase their hold on power in legislative positions for generations. He did this with Boston, Mass. as governor of the Bay State before he became Vice-President to James Madison in 1813. Both Madison and Gerry were Jeffersonian Democratic-Republicans and the map that Governor Gerry drew in Boston was mocked by plenty of political critics. The Federalist Party was already dying out after having two fine men serve as the first two presidents in our nation’s history(George Washington and John Adams), so gerrymandering played a role in its demise. Gerrymandering continued in different forms across different states and for various reasons. One of the reasons that gerrymandering can no longer be used is through the drawing of congressional districts based on the racial and ethnic composition of some cities and neighborhoods. This is considered redlining and it was something that the conservative southern Democrats used to keep their hold of power along with rejecting any attempts to allow African-American citizens the right to vote until the civil rights legislation that was passed which swapped the balance of power and political makeup in the Deep South. But gerrymandering has been used every time that a new census occurs(the first year of a new decade). Updates on the population count in states can affect whether a state gains an electoral vote/congressional district or loses any amount of those things for upcoming elections. This shapes the balance of power just as much as the voting decisions that people make in legislative elections every cycle. But something that state legislatures can do is redraw their own congressional districts based on population size across a specified area and expanding a district’s size to include new voters who are permitted to exclusively vote in elections regarding that district. The voters who live in one specific district cannot determine the results of a district they do not have a permanent residence in, so it’s all exclusive. The problem is that independent commissions can determine whether gerrymandering in some areas in a state is necessary and permissible or the alternative is that the legislators in that state vote on those revisions themselves. Sometimes, even the voters themselves are allowed to decide if their states’ congressional maps should be redrawn in a special election without knowing the effect it could have on representation in lower-populated areas in their state. This is an issue in massive liberal enclaves such as Illinois(the land of Lincoln only has three oddly drawn massive districts that Republican representatives hold), California(with a load of room to redraw the maps in every census) and New York. So, the will of the people living in rural areas is outnumbered by the will of the people living in more suburban areas/big cities all because of a population divide. That is not what our Founders intended and why the electoral college exists to bring balance to the Senate(two senators per each state, no matter how small or big the population/scope of a state is) and the overall vote count in presidential elections. But both sides have abused gerrymandering and it could threaten to destroy the democratic process of this nation’s ethos. If some voters feel powerless because of this awful strategy, they could either move to a more favorable district or take a stand against it. Unfortunately, both the Democrats and Republicans are gearing up for a gerrymandering war that could tilt the balance of power further into the ruling party of each state’s favor while keeping the partisan split that exists in Congress intact.
Enraged by the lack of a quorum to vote on his state’s new proposed congressional district map, Texas governor Greg Abbott has demanded that the Democrat lawmakers who fled his state on Sun. Aug 3(a day before the vote was set to be held) to return to the state capitol building in Austin, Tex. or face severe consequences. The absent Dems had an initial deadline of 3 pm. Central Time on Monday the 4th to avoid the first penalties, but none of them showed up. Abbott’s first tier of punishment kicked in, fining the state Democratic lawmakers $500 per day off their paychecks. Next, Abbott threatened to cut off the paychecks to those absent lawmakers if they didn’t show up. Then, he said that the FBI would be tracking down the Dems and finding them in order to bring them back to Austin to be present for the quorum. In that case, the Texas house only needs a minimum of 100 lawmakers present to vote on all proposed legislation. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has also said that the seats that the departed Democrats hold could be ruled vacant and thus they could lose their positions in the State House. There are other pieces of legislative measures that are delayed in Texas because of the Democratic state politicians’ unwillingness to show up, such as a bill to address recovery efforts from the flood crisis that occurred in the Hill Country of Texas west of San Antonio in early July that took a lot of innocent peoples’ lives and destroyed a lot of property. So, what the Texas Democrats are doing is more insidious than initially thought and they might run the risk of losing political power all for trying to stand up to a redistricting effort that might help out the Republican Party in next year’s midterm elections. Making matters worse are the states that they are in and how rigged the congressional maps are in favor of Democrats and the governors of each of those states said that they will have to consider redrawing their own districts in order to counter the proposed move in Texas.
The most far-left governors in the nation have proposed changes to their congressional maps to counter the Texas gerrymandering plan, even though their districts are overwhelmingly represented by Democratic representatives. California has 43 districts that have a Democratic rep and only 9 that have a Republican representative in Congress(names such as Young Kim, Kevin McCarthy and Darrel Issa). Illinois as mentioned has 17 seats, most of them focused around the metropolitan areas of Chicago, Champaign, and Springfield/eastern St. Louis suburbia. There’s literally one district that squirms its way like a caterpillar from the east St. Louis suburbs across from Missouri all the way to the state capitol in Springfield that is colored liberal blue. It’s in between two of the bizarrely drawn Republican districts designed to be big in order to deny a fair amount of seats that candidates from the opposing party in the Prairie State can realistically win. The Illinois congressional map used to have five districts that voted in a Republican candidate, now it’s only three. But that hasn’t stopped Gavin Newsom(current governor of California), Kathy Hochul(current governor of New York) and J.B Pritzker(current governor of Illinois) from speaking out against the Texas redistricting plan and deriding it as “gerrymandering”, a strategy that the Dems have gotten cozy in bed with for countless decades. They all call this a “threat to democracy”, but it’s something they have used countless times to strengthen their grip on power. Now that they know their party is leaderless and in danger of being locked out of political control for many years, the Democratic Party suddenly cares about this issue. They weren’t shouting from the rooftops about this when Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were in office. They barely made a peep about it when Obama had his glory years, in spite of his party having a disastrous first midterms cycle in 2010 that had Republicans gain 62 seats in the House of Representatives. It’s only when Donald Trump wants action to be taken in order to expand a slim Republican majority in Congress when Dems lose their mind and use their usual bag of insults such as “fascist”, “Nazi”, “threat to democracy”, etc. It’s complete hypocrisy and what most people should observe is what these leaders do and not what they say.
Newsom said that he is proposing putting together a new congressional map for California for all registered voters to vote on in order to redraw the district liked in the Golden State mid-decade in order to give Democrats even more districts to compete in and control. This coming after the Democrats barely secured a few House seats in the general election last year to keep the House majority that Republicans expanded very slim(including in the area where I live in Orange County, with dragged-out vote-counting determining victories for Derek Tran and Dave Min over Michele Steel and Scott Baugh). So, the margins are already slim enough in some districts for the Dems in California and now the people will decide whether continuing to resist the Trump administration on a great deal of things is worth it or not. In New York, Republicans only have control of around seven seats, but Kathy Hochul is considering a potential change to the district map in the Empire State for the 2026 midterm elections, all because one big Republican-led state decided to “cross the line”. Pritzker has political ambitions of being a potential future candidate to run for the office of President in the Democratic Party, so he needs to act tough and stand up to Trump on any issue. Gerrymandering has already reshaped his state’s district map for the worse, so what’s bad about adding a few tweaks to a messy painting? After all, he joked about it on the dying late-night show hosted by the liberal incel known as Stephen Colbert, so of course he’s going to make some tweaks to the map in his state where it seems more people have fled under his rule than have come in.
This is just the beginning of the redistricting chaos for Democrats, who are losing an important demographic that they consider to be “citizens” and thus eligible to vote in any election they want to. Illegal immigrants who have overstayed their visas, crossed the border illegally sometime in the past or have committed crimes that are worthy of being deported to a prison in a foreign country are being caught and rounded up by the ICE forces led by Kristi Noem, Tom Homan, and Todd Lyons. With illegal immigrants being counted in the 2020 census, the Democrats have benefited from having a share of the vote from people who have no legal right or documentation to be in this country. So, Trump has ordered a recount of the census that will kick illegal immigrant “residents” off the voter rolls and allow for a reallocation of congressional districts/electoral votes in Democrat-run states that have declared some form of “sanctuary” status in the past decade-plus. This is a form of political chaos that many liberal voters and politicians do not want, but it’s exactly what those of us who voted for Trump wanted. Accountability and the truth. Those things may seem harsh to some, but it’s the way the world is supposed to work. Illegal immigrants shouldn’t be voting Willy nilly in any election that determines the balance of power at the state and federal level, much less be living in this country on the taxpayers’ dime. The hard work is being done to reverse the damage that occurred over the past four years under the previous administration who said false and misleading terms such as “The Border is closed” and “No human being is illegal”. So, the Dems are relying heavily on their supercharged gerrymandering plan to sustain them politically, but it could backfire on them if enough voters see the truth of their tactics and how they have been used for many years to subvert the full will of the people. That doesn’t sound like democracy to me. Nor should it to anyone with half a brain of thoughts in this nation. Either way, it will be a nasty battle to the end and Republicans have to be ready to fight fire with fire and grind to win as many congressional seats as possible in next year’s midterms. Because the last thing this nation needs is more crying and screaming from naughty Democratic lawmakers who have to be diagnosed with a massive case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
That’s all for this political trifecta that makes up a Final Reckoning for Democrats across the United States of America. How far will they go to cling onto power? Well, they’re willing to frame Donald Trump of a fake crime and call any resistance to their impeachment plans “misinformation” or “fascist”. They might go down a dark path of socialism if Zohran Mamdani and other far-left leaders are elected to powerful positions throughout the nation. And they are willing to run away rather than fight when a redistricting proposal is set to be voted on. Cowardice doesn’t get you anywhere in life, nor should it advance the Democrats’ ambitions. This is a cruel summer for a lot of people with liberal beliefs. Last summer, it was an insane one with the near assassination of the man who returned to office this year to Make America proud, safe, wealthy, healthy, strong and great again. What a difference a year makes, right? Next summer it will be campaign season for the midterms elections that usually have the party not in the Oval Office pick up seats, but the Democrats are so unpopular right now that they might as well go into a different field of work. Like theatrics and rhetorical debate. They are masters at that, but the people are starting to see through the smoke and mirrors that the party with a donkey as its logo hath erected. This could be the end of the Democrats as we know them, but definitely not the end of democracy, which is rule by the people, not by one party that happens to have a similar name to that overused synonym.
